Im really relieved that this isnt going to be anything that will do permanent damage to Staal. When ever he gets back on the ice is a bonus.

Thrilled to hear the news regarding Staal, gotta give credit to MM for being very optimistic about it last night after the game.

I was very concerned Staal would be looking at permanent damage after watching replays, looking at the still photos, and post-game comments from players like Hank who said how everyone on the ice could hear how much pain he was in, and it looked very serious when basically all players from both teams were calling for medical attention as soon as it happened.

Started to look positive when he wasn't rushed to the hospital, and his brothers comments after speaking to Marc on the phone were reassuring. Can't even fathom understanding how Eric would feel hearing his brother was injured, then seeing the actual play happen.

Here's to a speedy recovery

Someone whose team has won a cup answer that question. I can't due to the fact my team sucks and hasn't won a cup...ever. Anything I say, regardless how objective, will be turned into "what has your team done"?

I was joking. I don't think that will ever happen. What does having a cup have to do with it?

Well that's the funny thing, it's such a stupidly obvious precaution and yet here we are, in 2013, and players wear shin pads to protect their shins but don't wear an unobstructive piece of translucent plastic to protect one of the most vulnerable parts of the human body. My comment wasn't directed at Staal (and I'm glad he's alright), it was at the whole of the NHL. It's going to take a serious injury to a rising young star like a Staal before players or the league wake up. Your ignorance only further confounds the problem. There's a reason that seat belts are required by law when operating a motor vehicle.

If you'd like some more insight, by all means:

70% of players where visors and that number is increasing , but thanks for your post.

Maybe you can get in touch with Phaneuf, theres enough room behind his visor for both him and Staal.
